About VPNRank

Independent VPN testing and comparison since 2025.

Who we are

VPNRank.io is run by a small editorial team of privacy and networking analysts. We are independently owned and operated — we are not owned by, invested in, or affiliated with any VPN provider. That matters in this industry: several of the largest VPN review sites are owned by the same companies that own the VPNs they rank. We are not.

What we do

We buy our own subscriptions to every VPN we evaluate, test them against a consistent methodology, and publish comparison guides for specific use cases — streaming, travel, sports, devices, and budgets. Our testing process is documented in detail on our How We Test page.

When pricing, server counts, or feature sets change, we update our guides. If you spot something out of date, we want to know — email us and we will fix it.

How we make money

VPNRank is funded by affiliate commissions. When you click a link to a VPN provider on our site and buy a subscription, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This is disclosed on every page where such links appear.

Commissions do not influence rankings. Our scoring rubric is set before commercial conversations happen, several VPNs we rank highly pay us nothing, and no provider can pay to improve its position. If a provider's product gets worse, its score goes down — commission or not.

Editorial standards

  • We purchase every subscription we test — no free review accounts.
  • Scores follow a fixed rubric: speed, privacy & security, reliability, app quality, and value.
  • Rankings are reviewed when providers ship significant changes (pricing, audits, infrastructure).
  • Factual errors are corrected as soon as they are verified — not quietly, but with updated data.
  • Advertising relationships are disclosed on every page that contains affiliate links.
